Maybe, your next day out may take you through Flemish Brabant. Perhaps for a walk in the region between the Forest of Zoniën and the river Zenne or maybe you will cycle through the Pajottenland area? Or what about a visit to the historic town of Halle. Take during such an excursion some time to pop into one of the region's many and varied museums. Some of them posses very valuable collections of art objects, such as the Felix De Boeck Museum in Drogenbos; the latter, as its name suggests, is dedicated to the works of the artist Felix De Boeck, or Gaasbeek Castle. The Southwest Brabant Museum in Halle presents a picture of how people lived, worked and feasted in days gone by. The Herman Teirlinck house in Beersel contains many memorabilia of this important author. In Alsemberg, the traditional paper and cardboard making which flourished in the Molenbeek valley in the 19th century is revived in the restored Herisem Mill. "De Cam" in Gooik exhibits a unique collection of folk instruments. If you want to know everything about the tram, then you should head for the Tram museum in Schepdaal. A visit to a museum can be a fascinating experience. But perhaps we may need to make just a little bit more effort in order to enjoy that experience. |
